Volunteers from the Spirit of Sydney Group commemorated the 7th Anniversary of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games with a celebratory lunch at the Noble Dragon Restaurant in Sydney's Chinatown on Saturday 15th September.

BEIJING, April 16 -- More than seven million very affordable tickets are now on sale for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) announced Sunday. About 75% of the tickets will be sold domestically and the rest will be available to the overseas public.

Chinese media have reported that a political advisor wants Bibles to
be placed in hotel rooms over the period of the Olympic Games when they
take place in Beijing in 2008.
Catholic Association, believes placing the Bibles in the hotel rooms
would help repair China’s reputation abroad as a religiously intolerant
country, the Xingu news agency reported.

Britain and Australia have struck a deal to help both nations compete against the "sporting superstate" of China at the 2012 London Olympics.
The deal will see Australian athletes compete in events in London before 2012 and British youngsters take part in the Australian Youth Olympics.

The pounding of hammers accents the sound of teenage boxers slapping pavement as they jog past scaffolding in a parking lot. The 50th Anniversary celebrations for the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games are not to be missed.
Already more than 320 Olympians from 1956 have confirmed their attendance for the festivities from 18-22 November, 2006. This includes over 130 International athletes featuring over 20 Gold Medallists such as Ronnie Delany (Athletics 1500m), Al Oerter (Discus) and Pat McCormick (Diving) planning to attend.

Day two of the IOC’s Executive Board (EB) meeting was mainly focused on the Olympic Games, with the selection of the candidate cities for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games (see earlier news story) and reports from the Organising Committees of Beijing 2008 (BOCOG), Vancouver 2010 (VANOC) and London 2012 (LOCOG).

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) today signed an extension to their current agreement, which will continue to see the IOC support the IPC and the Paralympic Games through to 2016. The present accord, which runs through to 2012, will now be extended to the Games of 2014 and 2016 respectively.

Sochi (Russia), Salzburg (Austria) and PyeongChang (Republic of Korea)* were today accepted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board in Lausanne as Candidate Cities to host the XXII Olympic Winter Games in 2014. The cities were accepted unanimously from a total of seven Applicant Cities, which also included Jaca (Spain), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Sofia (Bulgaria), and Borjomi (Georgia).
